The Farmer’s Almanac tells us that May’s full moon is known as the Full Flower Moon. In most areas, flowers are abundant everywhere during this time. Thus, the name of this Moon. May’s Full Flower Moon, also called Mother’s Moon, Milk Moon, and Corn Planting Moon, marks a time of increasing fertility with temperatures warm enough for safely bearing young, a near end to late frosts, and plants in bloom.
This month, learn about May’s Full Flower Moon, how the Moon’s phases affect when the fish will bite, and the Almanac’s criteria for a great fishing day.

Maybe it’s because the moon is so late in the calender month this year, but this is.going to be the strawberry moon for me. The hillsides around here are loaded with wild strawberries. Memorial day is our family’s traditional day of strawberry jam making.
Yeah, last year the Full Moon fell on May 5. Strawberries – yes! We’ve been doing some bucket gardening and our strawberries are coming along pretty well too 🙂
Isn’t the Farmer’s Almanac the best? I love the first picture you put up, it reminds me of a book I loved as a child called “A Cool Moonlight”, where the main character is allergic to the sun so she plays around the neighborhood at night and plants a garden of moonflowers. Mother’s Moon, Milk Moon; that sounds so enticing. I love that, as a nursing mother.
Anyway, thanks for the mooncircles link, I will have to check that out. Always happy to come across others that know the importance of the moon.

Ah beautiful and thanks for your comment – I will have to see if I can find this book you speak of, I’d love to add it to my children’s library. Brightest of blessings!! 🙂
It is by Angela Johnson. I read it when I was eight or nine just to give you a gage.. Angela Johnson was one of my favorite authors at that age.
Just found it on Amazon.com for $.01! And yes – I definitely see what you’re saying about the artwork – it looks very similar. Beautiful!! 🙂
No way! Enjoy!
